The Georgian Bay Folk Society offers the opportunity for young musicians to perform at the Summerfolk Music & Crafts Festival. Three acts are selected to participate in The Discoveries Concert on Friday night of the Festival. A series of showcase events are established to bring the brightest and best to the Summerfolk stage. Up to 12 acts will be selected from three preliminary showcases to advance to the final Discoveries Showcase at The Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound on Saturday March 24st, 2012.
Discoveries is open to performers 21 years of age and under in 2012.
Showcase events are open to the public to attend with no admission fee - donations gratefully accepted.

Young musicians have the opportunity to hone their skills at this outdoor concert held on Sunday, June 12. This year at the Owen Sound Visitors Centre (Marine and Rail Museum) 1155 1st Avenue East in Owen Sound - 1:00pm
GBFS currently has two projects it offers to Secondary Schools:
Open mic sessions for youth co-presented with the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library.
Held Saturdays in the Library Auditorium (downstairs) commencing at 2:00 pm.
