Become a GBFS Member

The Georgian Bay Folk Society presents Summerfolk and a host of other events throughout the year. To be able to finance our operations we rely on support from individual members, sponsors and granting organizations.

Our success in obtaining these grant funds is directly related to the strength of our membership.

Membership Categories & Benefits

Supporting (voting) Membership

Supporting Individual Members - (voting) $40.00 annual. $5.00 of this membership fee will be transferred to the Endowment Fund.  Receive a Member’s Package, which includes a Summerfolk Program, available on site; the right to purchase one (1) ticket, at member’s price to all GBFS events; a 10% discount on all GBFS/Summerfolk merchandise. Members who are 18 or older have the right to one (1) vote at all general meetings of members.

Supporting Family Members - (voting) $70.00 annual. $5.00 of this membership fee will be transferred to the Endowment Fund. Membership includes two Full Members and Folkie memberships for youth 17 years old and younger living at home.  Receive a Member’s Package, which includes two (2) Summerfolk Programs, available on site; the right to purchase four (4) tickets, at member’s price, to all GBFS events; a 10% discount on all GBFS/Summerfolk merchandise. This membership allows those who are 18 or older the right to have a total of two (2) votes at all general meetings of members.

Supporting Life Time Members - (voting) $500 one-time membership payment of $500. Such a member shall receive a Member’s Package, which includes a Summerfolk Program, available on site; the right to purchase one (1) ticket, at member’s price to all GBFS events; a 10% discount on all GBFS/Summerfolk merchandise. Life Time members who are 18 or older have the right to one (1) vote at all general meetings of members.

Non-Supporting (non-voting) Membership

Folkie Memberships - (non-voting) $15.00 annual - No additional benefits.

Honorary Memberships - (non-voting) $0 annual   May be granted by a vote of the general membership at the Annual Meeting. The Personnel Committee may put forth no more than two (2) names who, in its opinion, have made an outstanding contribution to the purposes of the Society. Honorary members are not required to pay dues, fines or levies, and are admitted for life. Honorary members are not entitled to vote at meetings or the members of the Society but may be granted other privileges as determined by the Board from time to time.

Rights of all members

1. All Members are entitled to have their name on the Volunteer List. If you would like to be a Volunteer (limited number required) please ask for a Volunteer Package.
2. All members have access to GBFS Activities (admission charges may apply).
3. All members may receive e-mail notification of announced events and be informed when our quarterly publication “Sound Waves” is posted on our website.
