Help secure the future of Summerfolk

Have you enjoyed Summerfolk over the years? Has the Festival been a meaningful part of your life? Are you a true folkie? Perhaps now is the time to consider how you can assist in securing the long term future of this unique event on the shores of Georgian Bay.

For some 30 years staging Summerfolk has presented a significant financial challenge to the Georgian Bay Folk Society. Today, the Festival is heavily dependent on government grants. While appreciative of the support that has been provided by Canada Heritage and The Ontario Arts Council over many years, the Society is also acutely aware that future funding at levels the festival has traditionally enjoyed is not guaranteed. Accordingly, the Society is seeking to put Summerfolk on a more secure long term financial footing.

To this end the Georgian Bay Folk Society has established a designated Summerfolk Fund within the Community Foundation of Grey Bruce. The Society hopes that by building this Fund through donations and bequests over time a steady stream of income will be generated that will ensure that Summerfolk is enjoyed by future generations.

The Community Foundation of Grey Bruce is an independent, volunteer-driven, charitable organization that aims to strengthen communities through philanthropy by partnering with donors to build permanent endowments and other funds from which community projects can be supported. It is one of Canada’s many Community Foundations which hold combined assets of nearly $1 billion and provide tens of millions of dollars in grants towards community priorities annually. Currently, the Community Foundation Grey Bruce manages $4.3 million in assets.

The Georgian Bay Folk Society would appeal to all those who have enjoyed Summerfolk over the years to consider making a donation to the designated Fund and also consider a bequest. No amount is too small.
